Arts Kete

Last term we started arts kete, arts kete is arts we got to choose. I choose mosaics there is sphero art, stone carving, spiral art, perspective drawing, and more. Mosaic is a piece of art made with most likely tiles and glass, but you can also use paper card and more! In the first week for mosaics, we did an artwork made by Piet Mondrain, we first started with the black strips on the paper, then we cut out the three colours that we choose and put it in the squares we made on the paper, using the black strips, after glued our squares colours and strips, we are done. The next piece of art we did was using magazines to create paper mosaics, we could draw a shape and cut out shapes and glued on our shape, we could also get a whole magazine page and cut it into squares and glue it back on the paper. Next, we did paper tile mosaic, we got coloured paper tiles and grid paper and created something, I drew a heart, and after we glued it on the grid paper to create our design. Then our next activity was stone mosaics we got buttons and little beads, I liked this activity because the little beads looked nice on the stone. After we did cardboard mosaics we got the cardboard and created a letter using the cardboard I choose N to give it to someone. 

What was hard: doing the letter mosaics because it was hard to cut out the cardboard.

What was easy: doing the stone mosaics because it was easy to but the buttons and beads on the stone.

Bh Novel Study

Today for hurumanu 2 speaking my truth reading I've been reading paperboy for my novel study, my task is to create an informative DLO about memoirs, a memoir is a historical account or biography written from personal knowledge. I had a set of questions to put on my DLO, I choose Canva to do my DLO, I did get a bit stuck so I used google to help me.

What was easy: created my DLO using canva.

What was hard: learning about a memoir because I don't know what that is.

Bh Novel Study (Paperboy)

In hurumanu speaking my truth reading, I have been reading a book called paperboy, paperboy is a little man who stutters he can't talk people. Today I have to write a summary of the main events in the story. The major theme of paperboy is stuttering. The first main event that happened in the story was he starts his paper route. Second, is he meets Mrs. Worthington on the same day when he started his paper route. Third, he gives Ara T his knife four days after he started his paper route and meets Mrs. Worthington. Fourth, he finds out that they don't know who his actual father is, seven days after he gives Ara T his knife. Fifth, mam comes home with bruises on her face, two days after he finds out that they don't know who his actual father is. Sixth, he said a hard word without stuttering, five days after mam came home with bruises on her face.

What was hard: Creating my character profile because I didn't know what Mrs. Worthington looked like so I just got the most similar photo of her.

What was easy: Writing this blog post, because I like doing blog post when I know what I'm going to write on my blog post.

Bh Novel Study (Paperboy)

Today for my novel study I watched a video of a man reading the first chapter of Paperboy. Our task is "listening to the previous video clip, what did you notice about the author's voice?" Also "what does he sound like?" And "how would you describe his voice to someone else." We have to highlight one simile and one hyperbole. The author's voice sounds like he's from texas like a texas accent. In my opinion, he sounds kind of like a cowboy. I would describe him like a country person, that lives in the countryside. Paperboy sounds like he is fast as lighting at writing.

Diamante Poem

Yesterday we started to learn about a Diamante poem. A Diamante poem is a poem that is written in a shape formed in a shape like a diamond. We wrote about The Taniwha and The Rakia Gorge, the characters are Te Maru (the wind) and the Taniwha. The Diamante poem has 7 lines, the first line is starting object, the second line is two words describing line 1, line three, three doing words (verbs about line 1), line four a short phrase about line 1 and line 2, line five is three doing words (verbs about line 7) line six, two describing words about line seven, line seven ending subject.

Haiku Poem About My Favourite Animal

Today in period 3 I did a haiku poem about my favorite animal, it was hard thinking of my sentences because we have to put it in syllables, 5 syllables then 7 syllables and then 5 syllables again. It was easy to think of my animal.

Tapa Cloth Art

Today we finished our Tapa Cloth art, today we did our charcoal. The charcoal gives dark outlines and blocks in some shapes. Last week we did the inking, the people who chose to use black card used white ink, the people who chose light brown card did the inking with darker ink. When we did the charcoal. We had to be careful because the dust gets on your fingers when you touch it. Next time when I do this type of art, I think I'll add more white ink because I can't really see that much white ink on the black card, and less water, and maybe a bit more simple designs and make some shapes different sizes. The creation of Tuna is a book about Tuna (the eel) and he moved to earth because heaven was too hot, and the village found that there was a supernatural in the water, so they cut tuna into four pieces and more eels got created.

Today we inked our Tapa Cloth. on Tuesday we did our crayon on your paper, and today we inked our Tapa Cloth since I choose black card I inked my Tapa Cloth white, we had some key points for our Tapa Cloth. A Tapa Cloth is made the pacific islands (I am from there,) Tapa Cloth in nowadays is made for formal occasions such as weddings, Tapa Cloth is made from bark, but we used card, after inking our Tapa Cloth we are going to use charcoal for the little details, so I had to put lots of white ink. For our Tapa Cloth, we used card brown and black, crayon brown and white, white paper for our draft, ink brown, and white. First, we got the inspiration for our Tapa Cloth and we did our draft, in our draft we did designs, next step is we got our card and crayon and did our draft designs and transferred it onto the card, next we got the ink and put the ink on our card after we did our charcoal. We all drew 6 different things, I drew the eel, the eel trap, heaven, sun, wave, and the trees. The Creation Of Tuna is about Tuna O Runga I Te Rangi (The eel,) got cut into four pieces, and then made into more eels, from the different parts of the body.

Next time I could add more detail to my drawings, and my favorite part is drawing my drawings onto the card because I love to draw things.

Freeze Frames In Drama - Hurumanu 2 - Speaking My Truth

For the last few days in Drama we have been doing freeze frames, a freeze frame is when you pose and take a picture and you have to stay still. From yesterday we read Bok Choy for our freeze frames we drew pictures for six points, and after we got put into 6 groups, I was in group 5, so we got a book and went to the fifth picture and we tried to do the freeze frame for that picture. My first point was a coin because Jacob's mum was paying for the food, my second on is the darkened hut because Ah Sum rescued Jacob from the river, my third one is a mug with a hot drink because Ah Sum gave Jacob a hot drink, my fourth one is wet clothes because Jacobs clothes were wet from the river, my fifth one is Jacob and his mum going back home, and my last one is a fight with Mrs Bishop because they were arguing about the Chinese cabbage.

Paperboy Questions

    

Today for reading we got a new book called "Paperboy." Paperboy is a novel type of story, so far I have read an article, kind of like a hint to what the story is about. We have to do three questions about the story for my group. This story is about Victor Vollmer, a stuttering 11 year old boy and he can't talk.

1. What was your first impression of the novel?

     My first impression was a bit confused, because he was talking about a knife, on the first page, because

     I only read the first page.

2. How do you think this story relates to "Hurumanu speaking my truth"?

    I think this relates to "Hurumanu speaking my truth" because it's reading.

3. What are you looking most forward to about this novel study?

    I'm looking forward to doing more blog post's.

The Lack Of Pigeons

Today we started a new book for reading. I read The Lack Of Pigeons, Its about a girl named Meredith and she is a film star, and she is on her way for an audition. Since I have finished reading my book I have ton do questions on our hurumanu site. I have six questions to do, and I have to put the answers into questions.

1. Meredith'’s personality.

     She is happy that she is going to her audition for her character, because it might be 

     her first time doing something like this and she's probably been wanting to do this       for her whole life.

2. Why did Meredith tell people she had an audition?

Because she is probably very excited and she can't control her happiness.

3. How did Meredith's Mum react to news of the audition?

Probably happy for Meredith because she is doing her best.

4. What is the author trying to tell us in this story?

The author is telling us that Meredith wants to become a actor, because it might

be her dream to become famous.

5. Predict what would happen if there really was an audition.

She might have done very well for her first audition, but maybe it might have

been a little bit hard for her first time.

6. What do you think happens at an audition?

An audition is like an interview for your job, for example a movie star.
