Mean, Median And Mode

Today we had to do a DLO about mean, median and mode. I used wideo to do my DLO. The reason why we are learning this is that its important and if we are doing an assessment and you don't know what mean, median and mode are you might fail. I think that this is fun and I like doing mean, median and mode because it is easy to do. We have to share our DLO to our blog, this was a fast finishers activity. What was hard, nothing was hard, what was easy, everything, what did you hate, nothing, what did you enjoy the most, doing my mean median and mode. Please leave me some feedback, because it helps me to do better in my next blog post's.

Here is my DLO:

4 Food Meal Plan - Hurumanu 6

On Monday we started to make a meal plan for breakfast, lunch, dinner and water servings. The 4 food groups are veggies + fruit, grains, milk/milk products and nuts/meat. On our doc, we had a table saying breakfast, lunch, dinner and water. We are learning to see what a healthy meal looks like, the reason why we are learning this is that so we are healthy and become healthy in the future. What was hard, making up my meal because we had to add every four groups of food, what was easy doing this blog.

Navigation In Space

Today in Science we have a set of questions about our Solar system and galaxy. We had a set of questions to do on our blog, I enjoyed doing Science because it is one of my favourite subjects in school, in science we are learning about Space, today we did Navigation in space, last week we did communication in space and communication challenge.

What is a Solar System? What is a Milky Way an example of?
A Solar System is where we have the BIG star (AKA the Sun) and a bunch of other planets around it.

What is a star? Describe a Nebula.
A Nebula is a giant cloud of dust and gas in space. The collapse of its own gravity causes the material the centre of the cloud to heat up and this hot core is the beginning of a star.

How do stars die?
The stars die when they explode, which will cause a supernova and we will all probably die.

Is there an up or down in space?
No there is no up or down in space because it can mess with the human brain.

How can stars be used to navigate?
Back in the old days, the Pacific islanders used the stars to navigate them selfs, they used their hands and mark the stars using their fingers, like in Moana!!

What was hard, nothing was hard, what was easy everything, what did you enjoy the communication challenge, what did you least enjoy, nothing I loved doing everything!!

Question for viewers: Have you seen the movie Moana??

Hurumanu 1 - Golds Rush - Reading

Today I read a poem by Chris Tse, It was about him going to find gold. We have to write this in a full paragraph, we have to write about what he is feeling and why we think he felt that way. So let's get started. I think he is feeling good because he is going to find gold. I also think he might be feeling a bit nervous because he might not find anything when he wants to find gold. He might be excited because it might have been his first time to find gold. He might have fear because there might have been not that much gold to find. What was hard, nothing was hard, what was easy, everything was easy, what did you enjoy the most reading the poem, what did you least enjoy, nothing.

Question for viewers: What will your emotions be if you find gold? negative and positive answers please, please leave me some feedback for my next post's!!!

Gold Rush

Last week we started doing Gold Rush, it's about when it was the old days and they went mining. When they were mining they found gold. We had a task board to follow so I'm doing share, which is "In your reading, you will have learnt a lot about Gold Mining and the Chinese people who came to mine. Choose 4 discoveries you have made about Gold Mining and 4 discoveries you have made about the Chinese & their role in shaping Aotearoa New Zealand. Create a DLO (Digital Learning Object) about these facts. Think about how you are going to create your DLO.?" So here is my DLO (Digital Learning Object), I tried out something new, its called Wideo. What was hard, nothing was really hard, What was easy, everything was easy, what did you like doing the most, everything, what did you least enjoy doing the most, nothing.

Question for viewers: Have you ever done a DLO (Digital Learning Object) before? If you have please let me know in the comments, and please leave me some feedback, feedback will be helpful for my next post's!!!

Communication In Space

Last week we started to do questions about communication in space. We had 5 questions to do, we did an animation about it. I couldn't get my animation because it was having trouble so I can't export it onto my blog. The questions were fun to do and I did get stick so I asked for help and finished doing my questions.
What did I enjoy, I enjoyed doing the questions because it was fun, what did I least enjoyed was nothing, What was easy, the easiest part is this blog post, and what was hard, was question 5 because I didn't know what that meant but I finished my questions.

Hurumanu 3 - Science Questions

Yesterday we started term 3, and we started Science life on Mars. We watched a video at the start of the period, the video was about Chris Hadfield, Chris Hadfield is a Canadian astronaut, he was talking about when he went to Mars. After we read an article called "Becoming A Martian," after we have to answer 5 questions on our blog.
Questions:
1. When can a mission from Mars (or from Mars) happen? Why?
Any mission to Mars can only leave earth - or return from Mars - every twenty-six months. When the          two planets are at the closest point in their orbits.

2. What are two geological features of Mars?
Mars is known as the red planet because of its colour (caused by large amounts of iron oxide.) Other        features include polar ice caps, Olympus Mons (the largest volcano in the solar system.)

3. What is one possible solution from the story about oxygen on Mars?
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is made up of both carbon and oxygen.

4. If it doesn't rain on Mars, where does water come from?
The water comes from ice, if you dig down on Mars you will find ice which is water.

5. How will people get food on Mars? What is a possible solution?
If settlers brought their own food, it would need to last twenty-six months until the next supply rocket.
On earth, we already have a way to grow crops without soil, its called Hydroponics

My Learning Story Hurumanu 4-Poetic Arts

Today we did our learning story. A learning story is when you add in what you did, what we learned, my favourite part and my next steps. And after we put our CARR values, our CARR values are C for commitment, A is for achievement, R is for resilience and R is for respect.
My favourite part was: doing my CARR  values in my learning story.
My least favourite part was: thinking of things we did.
What was hard: doing my learning story because some things were a bit tricky.
What was easy: doing this blog post!
Here is my learning story:

Speaking My Truth (Hurumanu 2 - Drama)

Today in drama we have to blog with few things we have to include in this blog post. A picture dictation is where you fold a piece of paper into six squares and draw what you think is the most important part of what the person was reading. A role on the wall, a role on the wall is where you draw a person and put in emotions inside the person or outside the person. What is an iceberg, an iceberg is when you draw a triangle and a line across it for the water, then you add emotions above the water and a little bit more about the character underneath the water. What is hot seating, hot seating is where you ask questions to the character sitting on the seat and you ask open questions.

Volume

A few weeks we did volume, we have to blog it, volume is when you measure something full like a cup of water. when you add your measurements you always add a floating three like this, ㎥, ㎤, ㎣, the floating three will help you because when you do a test you'll get the answer wrong if you don't put the floating 3, and also the floating three means that you did volume, you have a cube and the base is each 2m and the height is 3m you times like 2x2x3=12 you times the base and the height that's how you calculate the volume.
What did you enjoy: I enjoyed doing perimeter because it was easy.
What did you not enjoy: I didn't enjoy doing the little floating numbers because sometimes I forget which one to put.
What was easy: doing Perimeter.
What was hard: doing my multiplication because I don't know some of them.

Collage

Today we did art, the type of art we did is called collage. Collage is when you make a photo by layering photos on top of each other, and when you use different shapes to create a shape without actually creating that shape. When you do collage you have to plan out the shapes before you glue your pieces on because you don't want to mess it up without planning your design! We have done so much art this term, first, we did tapa cloth, tapa cloth is made from bark and originally from the pacific islands. The second art we did weaving, weaving was easy to do because it was only under and over. The next one we did was watercolouring because I love doing painting because my favourite thing to do is art. After we did our collage. After we did our collage we put all of our art on a big black paper and add our poems that go with our artwork.
What was easy: doing my watercolouring because I think I'm good at doing art.
What was hard: planing out on my black piece of paper where I'm going to put my work and poems.
What did I enjoy: I enjoyed doing the watercolouring the most because I liked blending my paint.
What did I least enjoy: I least enjoyed nothing because I love doing art it's my favourite thing to do.
Here is my work:

Wet Weather Day/Indoor Day

Today I and Harmony worked on a DLO (digital learning object) about inside days when it's raining. I and Harmony used slides because we can edited it together. We started with doing some ideas, and after putting them on the slides, Harmony was making the slides look pretty, and I was doing all the writing and also adding in pictures. The theme of the colours was rainbow.
My favourite part of doing this DLO was adding the pictures to match the sentence we put at the top.
My least favourite part of doing this was nothing because I enjoy making DLO's.
What was hard trying to look for the most matching pictures.
What was easy writing our ideas and making it look nice.
