Watercolour Painting

Today for art we have to write about what we have done over the term for watercolour. I've done many pieces but I can't find them. Watercolour is the easiest way of painting because you can rehydrate the paint after it is dried compared to acrylic paint after it is dried you cant use it again. There are 9 terms to Watercolour painting. Dilution is when you add water into the paint to lighten the colour of the paint. Glazing is when you apply thin transparent washes of one colour over another. Layering is when you apply premixed colours over another wash to change the value and intensity. Value or tone is when the range from light to dark of colour determine shadows and highlights of an object. Intensity is when the saturation of colour brightens or strengthens. Tint is when it's created by adding water to the original colour. The more water that's added the weaker in intensity. Movement is the effect you get when you let the water move the pigment across the page. Water into colour is when you use water to mix the paint on a palette then onto paper. Colour into water is when you paint the page with water first then add colour into it - the paint will only go where the after is.

B&E

Last week we started Business and Enterprise. Business and Enterprise is a kete we do at school, we make our own products and sell them. The goal of Businesses and Enterprise is to be sustainable in different ways (environmentally sustainable, culturally sustainable, economically sustainable and socially sustainable). The people in my group are Aone (finance manager), Esha (marketing manager), Isabella (production manager), Chelsea, and me (CEO), our business name is Crafty Christmas because our goal is to make Christmas Ornaments and Clay rings. We are going to use pieces of wood and laser cut designs on there to make Ornaments, I also have clear Christmas baubles that I bought but still haven't used yet. We are up to date with our Business plan and the only thing we need to do is our finance application for the money which Aone needs to do since she is the finance manager. My favourite part about doing B&E is you get to be creative and choose what you get to do.

Lockdown Artist

Today we have to research about Henry Sunderland. Henry used to be a teacher teaching art at Hornby High School. In lockdown 2020 he made his own book Lockdown Island 2020. He likes gnomes and is a gnomologist. When he was teaching at Hornby High one of his students asked if they could put all of their old toys on a car and like a crazy teacher he was, he said yes. He glued all of the student's toys on the car and went for a drive. It went crazy it was all over the News.  Henry has won a total of 4 awards/achievements. After Henry retired he has been involved in a lot of creative industries and life experiences. Henry has worked as a children's presenter at TVNZ. He uses garden gnomes as symbols for environmental protection and awareness. My favourite piece of art he has done is the lockdown island 2020 because you can print it out and colour it in. Drama Reflection

Today for drama we have to do a blog post about reflecting on what we have done throughout this term. I have learned different styles in drama and how to sing loud vocals without our throats hurting. I enjoyed playing games after we have done our work. The challenging part of this term in drama was trying to do our group acts in front of the whole class. I learnt about tragedy and melodrama. My favourite game we played in drama was Night at the Musem.

I enjoy horror because its spooky and its fun to watch people get scared. I have seen the conjuring and conjuring 2.

I enjoy violence because it gets intense but sometimes you might not be allowed to watch it because of age. I have seen the Avengers Endgame.

I enjoy melo-drama because the fights between the protagonist and antagonist. A melodrama I have watched Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin).

Annie Crummer - Ocean Moon/Hina Ki Tai

For the last two weeks in Wananga, we have been working on work related to Te Reo Maori language week. Our class has been working on Waiata Anthems. We had to create a slideshow about one artist on the Waiata Anthems site and answer questions about why they have taken one of their songs or created a new song in Te Reo Maori. I choose to do Annie Crummer she is a New Zealand singer, she is a Cook Islander but she was born in 1966 in West Auckland. She had a dream to become a singer and in her late adult life she found out that she has dyslexia, she released her first single at the age of 16. My favourite part of this task was learning about new singers in New Zealand.

Dear Diary From My Bubble

In lockdown, we have been working on a pictorial diary on slides. Our Wananga class has been doing this including our teacher Miss Laycock. We had to put in pictures of us doing stuff in lockdown. I did many things in my lockdown like practising Volleyball, cooking with my parents, going for walks and much more. My favourite part of doing this was putting in all the photos of me doing things in lockdown so my friends can see. Something in lockdown I enjoyed the most was spending time with my family and doing arts and crafts. What was/is our favourite thing to do in lockdown.

Here is my slideshow of me doing things in lockdown:

The Empty Pot

Today for Hurumanu we watched a video of a man reading the Empty Pot. After we watched it we had to answer 10 questions about it. After the questions, we had to make our own word find about the story. Some of the questions relate to us because we had to answer if we had been in a contest. The story is about a boy named Ping and loves to garden. An emperor comes to the village in China and hands out seeds all the children in the village is happy. Thier task is to bring the bloomed in a year. Ping came a year later and he hasn't had a flower bloomed. Ping was the only one who won because he was being honest and the other kids cheated because the emperor cooked the seeds. But he still came to the palace and was honest.

Paralympics Choice Board Task

Today in lockdown I did a task from the Paralympics choice board. We have different many tasks we can do on there when we have nothing to do. I worked on an art task which was to create an Olympic kit for the NZ Paralympic team. It could be a specific uniform, tracksuit, or formal wear to wear at the opening ceremony, etc. I drew out a team tracksuit because it is simple they can wear it when they are not competing/after they have competed, opening/closing ceremony, or whenever they want. I made one for the Men's and also one for the Women's, I tried to keep them both similar to each other because it will look neater but also keeping it simple and unique. My favourite part about this was designing the tracksuit because I got to be creative and use my imagination.

Here are my designs:

NZ Paralympians

In Hurumanu we had to do a doc about New Zealand Paralympics. We had a table on the docs with 3 NZ Paralympians and 6 other rows to add other Paralympians. We had to add the information about each Paralympian's sport, gold/silver/bronze medal, and their disability. We got all the information about the Paralympians on this site. My favourite part of this was reading about all the Paralympians on the site because it shows a lot of information about them.

Sophie Pascoe

For our Hurumanu work in lockdown, we had to create a slideshow about Shopie Pascoe. In our slide, we had specific things we had to include, like how many medals she has won, how many Paralympics she has competed in, and how she is a Paralympian. Sophie Pascoe was in a lawnmower accident at the age of 2 cutting her leg below her knee. My favorite part of this was putting information about her onto the slides. I enjoyed this activity because I got to learn more information about her.

Here are my slides:

My Opinion About Lockdown 2021

For me lockdown has been a bit stressful for me because as a student you have to do online learning and do google meetings with our class, and you can’t go anywhere. It has also been good because I get to spend more time with myself and my dad and I get to help him around the house. I get to do art and crafts, learn how to do different things and go outside and play on my trampoline. I also miss my friends and hanging out with them and playing volleyball. It's boring staying inside the house all day (other than going for walks and bike rides) and I wish I could just go back to school and do P.E. and my sports tournaments.

Lisa Carrington

Last week we had to write a draft blogpost about Lisa Carrington. We had to answer questions on a doc. Lisa Carrington was on the news because she won gold in the 500m Rowing. Lisa Carrington is from New Zealand. Lisa Carrington was born in Tauranga In the North Island. The province city she grew up in is the Bay of Plenty. Lisa Carrington's iwi is Te Aitanga-a-Māhaki, Ngāti Porou. The satellite town she grew up in was Whakatane in the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Lisa attended Whakatane High School. She attended Massey University, which is located in Palmerston North. Her Olympic event is Rowing. She has successfully competed in Rio, Japan, London, Beijing, and Hungary. Her partner in Rowing is Cailin Regal. She has achieved 5 gold medals and 1 bronze. Beef and Lamb NZ and Southern Cross Health Society. NZ Olympic Athletes

For the last couple of weeks, we have been making slides about NZ Olympic Athletes that competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Me and Aaron worked on this together we had to do 5 different athletes and since we worked together we had to do ten in total. My favourite part of this was doing the slides with Aaron because we can help each other when we got stuck. I enjoyed this because we got to get creative with our slides and choose different people from NZ competing for NZ in the 2020 Olympics.

Impasto Painting

Today I have to answer some questions about impasto painting. Over the past few weeks, our art class has been doing impasto painting. Impasto painting is one of the easiest painting techniques you can do. You can easily express your emotions, make abstract and can do many more things with impasto. Impasto means a painting using a palette knife, a thick paintbrush to apply thick strokes of paint onto your canvas, but it mainly means painting with a thick layer of paint. You can express emotions by doing impasto painting you can do this by using warm and cool colours or by painting what makes you happy or sad. Van Gough was one of the first people to use the impasto painting technique because he did use a thick paintbrush or a palette knife but he used his fingers to create the starry night.

Fiji Wins Gold Again!

Today for Hurumanu we had to do an activity about the Fijian Rugby Sevens winning against New Zealand for the Olympics. I was excited about this work because I knew a lot about Fiji because I'm from there. We had to read about Fiji winning against New Zealand and add missing parts to the task that was set for us. My favourite part about this was getting to do stuff about my culture because I know a lot about it. I enjoyed doing this a lot because I got to help others do this after. My thoughts on this was everyone who supported Fiji was proud, and the Fiji team try their hardest to help people in Fiji because of covid, because covid is really bad there. I am very proud.

Read all about the Fiji Rugby Sevens winning gold at the Olympic Games, then Blog a report about the game using your own words.

Olympic Gold was won by the Fiji Rugby Sevens team in Tokyo last evening (9:00-9:30).

The game was against New Zealand who ended up winning Silver Medals.

Fiji’s captain is Jerry Tuwai He said this win was very special because they had to go into lockdown after Easter.

They have not seen their family since.

They spent most of that time shut up in a hostel in Suva , training in a gym they built in a garage.

When they were on their way to Japan the Fijian team got stuck on a cargo plane Along with some crates full of frozen fish.

These experiences helped them form a very tight group of people which makes for a great experience.

Here are some images of the winners.
