Activity 2: Exploring Our Roots

Activity 2: Exploring Our RootsTaika Waititi is a New Zealand filmmaker, director, actor and comedian. He has produced and/or directed a number of popular films including “Boy,” “Hunt for the Wilderpeople” and “Thor: Ragnarok.” As a child, Taika Waititi lived in Raukokore (a small town on the East Coast of New Zealand). When he graduated from secondary school Taika moved to Wellington to study drama at Victoria University. Despite moving away from home, he has never forgotten his family or his roots (where he comes from). Speaking of roots, Taika comes from a culturally diverse family. His dad is Māori (Te Whānau-a-Apanui) and his mother is Russian-Jewish. I, on the other hand, am Pākeha (New Zealand European). Most of my ancestors come from England. When I talk about who I am, and introduce myself to others, I sometimes use a pepeha.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For this activity, we would like to create your own pepeha. You can write the pepeha in any language that you wish. If you need some help, please visit this pepeha website or use this template.

I have used to website to create my pepeha. If you have trouble reading it, please click on it and enlarge it.

On your blog, post a copy of your pepeha. Please remember that smart learners do not share their full name online (first name only). You can use your last name initial (e.g. Laura N) on the pepeha website. If you use this website, please do not submit your email address - take a screenshot of your pepeha!

How Find If Websites/News Is Fake Or Real

Hello Readers! If you are on your computer and a random website pops up and you don't know if it is real or fake, this blog post is about how to find out if websites and news is real or fake, so this is basically called phishing, phishing is when someone wants to steal your personal information or rick you into something that is not real. If the website has a triangle with a ''exclamation mark'' at the top of the screen where the tabs are then the website or news page is unsecured, and don't forget don't share your personal information at the top of the screen where the URL is it should say HTTPS then it mans the site is safe, our teacher Mrs McGuinnety told us to go on This Website and read the whole thing, can you figure out if the website is real or fake? I will reply if you got it right or not!

Countdown Challenge

In Miss Williamson's Maths we have been doing a Countdown Challenge, we have $30 and we have to create a family dinner for our family but we have to put it on our digital Maths book so basically it is fake but fun at the same time, we went on he countdown website and get items for our meal, I am making spaghetti bolognese, I got Spaghetti, Tomato Sauce, Baby Spinach, Colby Cheese, Coke, Meatballs, Crackers, Potatoes and Shredded Chicken. How I am going to make it, first I put the spaghetti in the pot and let it boil for 8-12 minutes and then I take it out and let it sit about 4 minutes, after I put the spaghetti in a pot and add the sauce and a little bit of water, after I cook meatballs, meanwhile I put the cheese on the crackers, then when I'm done the spaghetti I put the meatballs and a little bit of baby spinach potatoes and chicken and then put some coke in cups, enjoy (I DON'T KNOW HOW TO COOK JUST A RANDOM RECIPE I MADE.)

Rounding Up Decimals To The Nearest Tenth

Today in Maths we did rounding up decimals to the nearest tenth, first I thought it was hard but then I started to get the hang of it, but it was kind of easy and fun to do, first we got the sheet and it had the questions like this 68.59=_____________ then we put our answer on the line, then we show Miss Williamson and she checks it and tells us if we need to fix our answers, and then we put it in our Maths book.

What Was Hard: First it was hard,
What Was Easy: Then I got the hang of it at the end
