Lockdown Artist

Today we have to research about Henry Sunderland. Henry used to be a teacher teaching art at Hornby High School. In lockdown 2020 he made his own book Lockdown Island 2020. He likes gnomes and is a gnomologist. When he was teaching at Hornby High one of his students asked if they could put all of their old toys on a car and like a crazy teacher he was, he said yes. He glued all of the student's toys on the car and went for a drive. It went crazy it was all over the News.  Henry has won a total of 4 awards/achievements. After Henry retired he has been involved in a lot of creative industries and life experiences. Henry has worked as a children's presenter at TVNZ. He uses garden gnomes as symbols for environmental protection and awareness. My favourite piece of art he has done is the lockdown island 2020 because you can print it out and colour it in. Have you read the lockdown island 2020 book?Illustrator's daily cartoons document our 49 days on 'lockdown island' | Stuff.co.nzNew home wanted for cheerful art car | Stuff.co.nz

Drama Reflection

Today for drama we have to do a blog post about reflecting on what we have done throughout this term. I have learned different styles in drama and how to sing loud vocals without our throats hurting. I enjoyed playing games after we have done our work. The challenging part of this term in drama was trying to do our group acts in front of the whole class. I learnt about tragedy and melodrama. My favourite game we played in drama was Night at the Musem.

I enjoy horror because its spooky and its fun to watch people get scared. I have seen the conjuring and conjuring 2.

I enjoy violence because it gets intense but sometimes you might not be allowed to watch it because of age. I have seen the Avengers Endgame.

I enjoy melo-drama because the fights between the protagonist and antagonist. A melodrama I have watched Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin).

Annie Crummer - Ocean Moon/Hina Ki Tai

For the last two weeks in Wananga, we have been working on work related to Te Reo Maori language week. Our class has been working on Waiata Anthems. We had to create a slideshow about one artist on the Waiata Anthems site and answer questions about why they have taken one of their songs or created a new song in Te Reo Maori. I choose to do Annie Crummer she is a New Zealand singer, she is a Cook Islander but she was born in 1966 in West Auckland. She had a dream to become a singer and in her late adult life she found out that she has dyslexia, she released her first single at the age of 16. My favourite part of this task was learning about new singers in New Zealand.

Dear Diary From My Bubble

In lockdown, we have been working on a pictorial diary on slides. Our Wananga class has been doing this including our teacher Miss Laycock. We had to put in pictures of us doing stuff in lockdown. I did many things in my lockdown like practising Volleyball, cooking with my parents, going for walks and much more. My favourite part of doing this was putting in all the photos of me doing things in lockdown so my friends can see. Something in lockdown I enjoyed the most was spending time with my family and doing arts and crafts. What was/is our favourite thing to do in lockdown.

Here is my slideshow of me doing things in lockdown:

The Empty Pot

Today for Hurumanu we watched a video of a man reading the Empty Pot. After we watched it we had to answer 10 questions about it. After the questions, we had to make our own word find about the story. Some of the questions relate to us because we had to answer if we had been in a contest. The story is about a boy named Ping and loves to garden. An emperor comes to the village in China and hands out seeds all the children in the village is happy. Thier task is to bring the bloomed in a year. Ping came a year later and he hasn't had a flower bloomed. Ping was the only one who won because he was being honest and the other kids cheated because the emperor cooked the seeds. But he still came to the palace and was honest.

Can you find the words:

Paralympics Choice Board Task

Today in lockdown I did a task from the Paralympics choice board. We have different many tasks we can do on there when we have nothing to do. I worked on an art task which was to create an Olympic kit for the NZ Paralympic team. It could be a specific uniform, tracksuit, or formal wear to wear at the opening ceremony, etc. I drew out a team tracksuit because it is simple they can wear it when they are not competing/after they have competed, opening/closing ceremony, or whenever they want. I made one for the Men's and also one for the Women's, I tried to keep them both similar to each other because it will look neater but also keeping it simple and unique. My favourite part about this was designing the tracksuit because I got to be creative and use my imagination.

Here are my designs:

NZ Paralympians

In Hurumanu we had to do a doc about New Zealand Paralympics. We had a table on the docs with 3 NZ Paralympians and 6 other rows to add other Paralympians. We had to add the information about each Paralympian's sport, gold/silver/bronze medal, and their disability. We got all the information about the Paralympians on this site. My favourite part of this was reading about all the Paralympians on the site because it shows a lot of information about them.

Sophie Pascoe

For our Hurumanu work in lockdown, we had to create a slideshow about Shopie Pascoe. In our slide, we had specific things we had to include, like how many medals she has won, how many Paralympics she has competed in, and how she is a Paralympian. Sophie Pascoe was in a lawnmower accident at the age of 2 cutting her leg below her knee. My favorite part of this was putting information about her onto the slides. I enjoyed this activity because I got to learn more information about her.
