Pink Shirt Day

Last week we started slides for pink shirt day in wananga. One of the activity's was a must do, which was to blog another activity. I chose to do how to get help and advice on anti-bulling. Pink shirt day is a day where you celebrate people who used to be students, you support them because they got bullied. They got bullied because in 2007 in Canada, two students (David Shepard and Travis Price,) both wore a pink shirt to school one day, and other students bullied them both, they posted it online and then everyone saw the post and supported the 2 students who got bullied. This year Pink Shirt day is on Monday 4th May 2020. I worked with Aone to do my slides.

Drama

Last week we had a Drama session with a new teacher her name is Miss Allen. We explored different types of stages of when you perform on stage. I chose face expressions, the photos Miss Allen took of me were really funny. We used the bullies script to do this acting. My favourite part was making my facial expressions, my least favourite part was nothing. The other types of stages were levels, spacial relationships and gestures.





Character Descriptions

Yesterday in Period 3 we are finishing up our 2 hurumanu's. One of the hurumanu's is Reading. We have to our task's for Freak The Mighty. I had to do a doc which is for our characters description. It has a table on it and we have to fill it out with the characters and their description. Some of the characters we haven't met yet so we had to leave those ones blank. I had to read the chapters 6-8. My favourite part was doing this blog post, my least favourite part was nothing.

Digital Blackout Poem

A few weeks ago we started blackout poetry, today we did Digital blackout poetry. It is similar to doing blackout poetry on paper. We used a website to do this, on this website it had 3 samples stories to make a blackout poem, you can also add your own story but we used the sample ones. I made 4 different quotes from just 2 stories online. My favourite part of this was making my blackout poem digitally. My least favourite part of doing this was nothing.

Summary About Freak The Mighty

Today we have to write a summary about Freak The Mighty. We have a set of questions that we have answer in our paragraph. The questions that we have to answer in our paragraph are: 

  • Who is the protagonist (the main character)?

  • What do we know about them and their personality?

  • What are the two main events that have happened so far?

  • What do you predict is going to happen next?


Here is my paragraph:
This book is about two young boys who are friends throughout their childhood. The main characters are Max and Kevin, Kevin is the freak, Max is the big kind friend. I know that Max is a nice boy because Kevin was getting bullied for having no brain, Kevin is just a boy who gets bullied because he apparently has no brain. Gwen is Kevin's mother, and while they were talking, Kevin told a story about King Auther.  Gram is Max's Grandparent because, after his mother's death, Max started living with his parent's Grandparents.

Blackout Poetry

Yesterday we started a new topic for term 4 in art hurumanu, we did blackout poetry. Blackout poetry is when you blackout the words and make a new poem using the words of an article, a book, newspaper basically anything with words. We did this because we haven't done anything like this before and we are doing poetic arts this term. The first step is to get inspired by blackout poem, you can get inspired by searching it up, asking family members and more. The second step was to get a newspaper and find a part of writing and look through the words and pick the ones you like. After you have looked through the words you use a pen to box the words you like. Next, we get a black marker and blackout the words you don't need, make sure you don't blackout the words you like! After we cut out our work and glued it on a piece of coloured paper. We also did the same thing but we made a shape by blacking out the words we don't need. I liked doing this type of poetry because I have never done this type of poetry before. What was hard, making a shape of the fish for my shape poem. What was easy, blacking out the words I don't need for my poem.

Expectations In P.E.

Today our P.E. class our P.E. teacher wants us to write on blog expectations of respect we should show full time in our P.E. classes and including the school.

The expectations are:

 - The people without P.E. gear will receive a consequence,

 - Before coming into the gym you must line up as a class outside the door, 

 - Once you are changed into your P.E. gear you must come in sit down as a class in place you were asked       by the teacher.

 - All gear must be left alone until the teacher has instructed you to use it.
